SEO WHAT?
June 30, 2010 1 CommentSomehow, we seem to forget that SEO is just a special breed of check list for algorithms that are little more than utilitarian website pulse takers. Webmasters adjust and fine tune and adjust and fine tune websites over and over again, ad nauseum, in hopes that the algorithm will say (if algorithms could speak – that is), “Hey Google, I think we’ve found a vibrant, relevant website here with rich content that’s gonna make the site visitors happy to come visit and even more happy to come visit again. Whaddya say we take this website to base camp and get ready to climb?”
IMHO, what’s lost in the translation is that if we all created websites with the above quoted language as our guiding mission statement, SEO would unwittingly be part and parcel of all site development – not a fee generating mandatory side specialty.
If you want to build a foundation for high SERP, here’s how you begin: Choose a domain name that is created from EXACT MATCH LONG TAIL KEYWORDS with a .COM, .NET (or .ORG, if you insist) at the end. That’ll do the lion’s share of the SEO heavy lifting because (and I’m going to capitalize now to drive home the point) THERE CAN BE NO BETTER THRESHOLD MATCH FOR RELEVANCE THAN WHEN A SITE VISITOR’S SEARCH QUERY EXACTLY MATCHES THE WEBSITE DOMAIN NAME. How could there be?
Now, just be true to the above mission statement by incorporating rich, relevant meaningful content, and within a month or two, you’re standing at or near the peak of organic search – metaphorically speaking.
In fact, for the moment, that exact search domain name does so much of the SEO heavy lifting, you can win the SERP Sunday picnic sack race without even bringing in your fastest loaders or a fork lift. But understand this: IT WON’T LAST. That pulse taking algorithm I was talking about? Well, sooner than later, it IS NOT going to be pleased with your digital treadmill stress test if you’ve been serving up the bad cholesterol content. And we’re not talking SEO – just good nutrition – metaphorically speaking, that is.
So don’t play SEO roulette (quick, somebody see if that’s already reg’d!). Do it right the first time, and don’t forget to bring oxygen. The air can be thin at the SERP summit.

Well right now there is this issue that long tail words are used for spam websites, and the longer tail the easier it is to get domain name, use it for exact search and then discard it. This is also on top of the google list, as of right now exact search domain names are the kind. The issue will be if google decided to attack long tail keywords that often associated with spamming.
I wouldn't disregard SEO to such degree as you do. I worked in that field for a while, and seo is a field not a hobby. Evolving field that is.
